Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Caregiver

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.50 - $18.13 per hour

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) you will learn the skills and coaching techniques to help other adults shape their lives into a picture they once only dreamed of, in one of our new locations located in Clarinda Iowa. The DSP is responsible for a variety of duties related to the overall care for those who reside in the AmeriServe International Residential Program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide transportation to and from activities/appointments.
• Assist in the implementation of individual plans for individuals and behavior plan goals.
• Assist individuals in the pursuit of recreational, social and community activities based on their preference and individual plans.
• Assist and encourage individuals in the establishment of social networks.
• Promote participation and involvement in community outings.
• Ensure each individuals rights are protected.
• Treat individuals with dignity and respect.

Activities of Daily Living:

• Administer medications to individuals as assigned.
• Observe individuals for changes in behavior or health.
• Ensure individuals are dressed neatly and appropriately and are groomed at all times.
• Assist and encourage individuals to care for immediate personal needs such as toileting, bathing, washing their hands and eating.
• Prepare nutritional meals based on individual needs and preferences.
• Encourage individuals to assist in the preparation of meals and snacks as appropriate to their individual plans and behavior plan.
• Keep residence – both interior and exterior and resident personal space clean, organized, and tidy and encourage them to participate in upkeep as appropriate according to their individual plan.
• Teach individuals daily skills such as household chores, laundry, cleaning and washing dishes as appropriate according to their individual plan.

• Valid Driver’s license
• Ability to drive company vehicles
• Undergo Background Check
